Trena McElroy was a simple American woman born to Ronald and Treva Peters McNeely. She became popular after the death of her first husband Ken Rex McElroy. Early life

Trena McElroy was an American woman born in 1957 in Horton, Kansas, USA. When she was just 12 years old she came into a relationship with Ken McElroy who was 35 years old then. He used to rape her frequently. Her family was against this relationship but out of fear of him they could not do anything. He even set ablaze their house and shot their pet dog. Trena was expecting his child at the age of 14 and had to drop out of school in the ninth grade. He married her to save himself from the charges of statutory rape.

About Her first Husband

Ken Rex McElroy was an American criminal born on 1st June,1934 in Overland Park, Kansas, US. He was born to a family of migrant-tenant-farmers, Tony and Mabel McElroy. He had 15 siblings. He left his studies in the 8th grade. He had three wives including Trena. Although he was convicted 21 times, he managed to escape each time except for the last one when he was accused of attempted murder of 70-years old grocer Ernest “Bo” Bowenkamp.

Trena’s husband Ken was shot at several times but hit only two times, at that time Trena was with him in the truck. She witnessed her husband’s death. She even identified one gunman but nobody gave a statement about the assailants. Although he was shot in broad daylight in Skidmore town, till now no one has been arrested in connection with his death. As it seems that people were happy to get rid of him. His death remains a mystery. There is a documentary on his death named “No One Saw a Thing” released in 2019.

Later period of her life

After her husband Ken’s death on 10th July,1981 she remained there and fought for justice. She filed a $5 million wrongful death lawsuit against whoever she finds guilty, but the court settled down the case for $17,600. She then moved to Lebanon, Missouri. She remarried Kenneth Howard Williams on April 2,1983. She spent the last twenty-eight years of her life with him. They were a happily married couple. She had six daughters and two sons with Howard. She used to enjoy fishing, hunting and camping in her spare time.

Death

She took her last breath on Tuesday, January 24, 2012, in her daughter’s home, near Conway, Missouri, at the age of fifty-five years. She was suffering from cancer.

Conclusion

Being a wife of a criminal is not easy but Trena survived and got her new life after marrying Howard. She will always be remembered by her family, relatives and friends. She was a loving wife, daughter, mother, parents and most importantly a good human being.
