Vera Fatu came to the world in 1947 in Samoa, United States. She had two brothers, Afa and Sika. Her two brothers were popular as The Wild Samoans, famous because of their legendary performances as wrestlers. They were members of the Anoa’i Family. The Anoa’i family is a family of wrestlers who were also originally from Samoa.

Later. Vera Fatu married Solofa Fatu Sr and gave birth to her three sons, Edward Smith Fatu on March 28, 1973, Samuel Larry Anoa’i Fatu, and Solofa Fatu Jr on October 11, 1965.

Sam Fatu

Vera Fatu’s son Sam Fatu, originally named Samuel Larry Anoa’i Fatu, came into the world on October 11, 1965. Like his older brother, Sam started to train as a wrestler at a young age.

He received popularity for his appearances in the World Wrestling Federation as The Tonga Kid and in the World Championship Wrestling as The Samoan Savage.


Solofa Fatu Jr, originally named Rikishi, is the youngest son of Vera Fatu. He came into the world on  October 11, 1965. Solofa has received the World Wrestling Entertainment (WWE) championship for one time, the WWE Tag Team Championship for one time, and two times for the World Tag Team championship.

Vera Fatu always appeared cheering for her son whenever they had a man. She appeared in media outlets as a supportive mother.

Cancer And Death

Vera lived a fulfilling life but soon, doctors found out she had cancer. She struggled with her life since the beginning of the 2000s. She  passed away  on April 27th, 2008 after a long battle with cancer,
